Now that we’ve had a little time for the dust to settle on this whole financial crisis, the thing I most am interested in is how do we make sure this doesn’t happen again? I don’t mean ever… I mean, you know… weekly. Maybe a few months to catch our breath before the next disaster… that kind of thing.
Actually, that level of cynicism makes me ashamed of myself. But the fact is, we have become so accustomed to --- well, not just bad government, but bad governance – that we start to assume that’s just the way it has to be.
That kind of thinking makes me channel Dennis Hopper in Apocalypse now: Wrong! Wrong!

Sorry, friend. I can't add a dollar a day to my budget for PJTV Premium. Best wishes on that.

Completely irrelevant: I like that no-tie thing you've got goin' on now. You look more approachable and less like a talking head. IMHO, which isn't worth much (c:

#1 A functioning republic requires an educated and engaged citizenry. We have a mechanism to get rid of the bums; it's called an election.
#2 Limited government serves the public best. Show me in the Constitution a right to homeownership. The mortgage crisis occured because politicians arrogated to themselves powers not mentioned in the Constitution.
#3 Capitalism must be transparent and aboveboard to function properly.
I must elaborate on point three. Who should be most upset about the current Wall Street crisis? If you think long and hard enough, you will discover a group that the media will never mention: honest businessmen. How would you feel as a CEO who has made money by providing genuine shareholder value, all the time providing top service while playing by the rules? How do you feel about the evaporation of billions in hard won wealth because someone else cheated and caused a panic in the markets? You've heard the old proverb that "cheaters never prosper." Well, maybe in the short term. But in the long term the Web of Trust has been violated. We all lose. What are we as a culture without trust?
We will lose our republic only if we fail to defend our founding principles. And defend it we will with every means at our disposal. Take heart in this scene from the movie Zulu as the Zulus mass for the attack.
Private: "Why us?"
Sergeant Major: "Because we're here, lad. Just us. And no one else."

If you don't mind the suggestion, you look much better wearing a tie.

Once again you have hit the nail on the head, Bill. The opportunity for this country to realize disaster will no doubt reach critical mass with advent of Obamanomics and the socialist lead congress.

Small Correction.
It was Color Sergeant Bourne, not a SgtMaj.
Soldier:"He's right... why is it us? Why us?"
Color Sarge:"Because we're here lad... nobody else."
I watch this film about every 3 months
Soldier:"I belong to Natal Mounted Police."
Jones:"Is that true then? ... he's come to arrest the Zulus."

That's why we need to be able to enact something like the Grover Cleveland Amendment to take away entrenched incumbency, while still allowing voters to return good representatives to office after they've "come up for air".

Hmm...,
With a busted PC and all other additional funds going into my little shop-business...looks like I'm out of this one, too.
MuscleBaby will have my hide if I subscribe to one more thing (she's small, but she can be a mean one)

It would be nice for the dust to settle and not have a "economic crisis" every day, with the news breaking into regular broadcasting, etc...but Beware if Obama and his inexperienced left wing illuminati views and policies get into the White House and he will be in charge of our nation. Beware Americans!

This should have never happened in the beginning. The liberal illuminati allowed these crooks to get by for years, and then gave them a bailout. It will happen again if the socialist have their way.

Bill et al,
It takes only one person to teach a child to swim.
It employs thousands to place barricades, protections, education, prevention, etc.
Just a thought, j
